How can you recognise a German?

In its crystalline form, it is silvery-grey and as brittle as glass. It usually reaches us as scrap from infrared lenses or as production waste. Its brittleness is similar to that of silicon — it breaks more easily than it deforms under pressure.

Germanium purchasing – valuation and forms of the material

German is used, amongst other things, in high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, optical devices and catalysts. Due to its scarcity, we purchase it in both small and very large batches.

What determines the price of germanium?

The price of germanium depends on quotations on global exchanges, the dollar exchange rate and market demand; for a specific consignment, it depends on the purity, form of the material (e.g. lenses, ingots, powder, production waste) and quantity. We therefore price each delivery individually following an analysis.
