Metal and alloy composition analysers

Spectrometers

We offer spectrometers for the rapid identification of metals and alloys – instruments that we ourselves use in the RMC Polska laboratories. Within seconds, they determine the chemical composition of a material and its grade.
The spectrometer is ideal for use at scrap yards, recycling centres, foundries and quality control departments – wherever the value of a material depends on its accurate identification.

Handheld XRF spectrometer

ProSpector 3

A handheld XRF analyser („XRF gun”) for use in the field, on site and in the production hall. It weighs approx. 1.1 kg, has a dust- and water-resistant casing and a large, fold-down touchscreen. Available in three versions – Basic, Advanced and Max – differing in terms of their lamp, filters, detector window and the range of elements they can analyse (from sulphur, magnesium or sodium to uranium).

  • alloy analysis, scrap sorting and material identification (PMI),
  • inspection of precious metals and jewellery,
  • analysis of ores, minerals, soils and building materials,
  • Results in a matter of seconds, PDF reports protected against modification.

Handheld XRF spectrometer

ProSpector 3 Advanced

An advanced handheld XRF analyser for the most demanding analyses in metallurgy, geology, manufacturing and quality control. It accurately determines both light and heavy elements – from magnesium (Mg) to uranium (U) in a single measurement.

  • a 40 kV X-ray tube (50 kV optional) with a rhodium anode and a large-area SDD detector,
  • twice the precision and lower detection limits, and analysis four times faster than with typical XRF spectrometers,
  • an automatic 8-position filter changer and a 2-position collimator,
  • CCD camera with optional macro mode, 4.3" touchscreen,
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, micro SD card, optional GPS.

Scrap metal collection package

ProSpector 3 Scrap Edition

A spectrometer configured for scrap reception and dispatch checks. It helps to avoid misclassification in the groups with the greatest price differences – stainless steels (e.g. 304 and 316), nickel and heat-resistant alloys, copper alloys (brass, bronze, Cu-Ni) and aluminium.

  • automatic base metal recognition – the operator will not select the wrong mode,
  • pre-defined settings and sorting rules for typical scrap streams,
  • training for operators and fine-tuning the settings using your footage,
  • records of measurements and reports for audit purposes and for resolving disputes with the customer,
  • with no compulsory annual paid calibrations and free software updates.

Stationary EDXRF spectrometers

ElvaX Plus and ElvaX Pro

Benchtop X-ray fluorescence spectrometers for laboratory use – qualitative and quantitative analysis of solids, powders, liquids, as well as biological and filter-deposited samples, within the range of from sodium (Na) to uranium (U). According to the manufacturer, these are the fastest XRF analysers on the market – over 500,000 counts per second.

  • ElvaX Plus – a 50 kV lamp, a 20 mm² SDD detector, a detection limit of less than 1 ppm for most elements in light matrices,
  • ElvaX Pro – the most powerful model in the range: 60 kV / 1000 µA lamp, 40 mm² Fast SDD detector, analysis of rare-earth elements (La–Er) via K-lines,
  • a helium purge to increase sensitivity to light elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S),
  • optional 16-position sample feeder – up to 1,000 samples per day,
  • CCD camera and collimator changer for analysing jewellery, welds and small components (ElvaX Pro).

All Elvatech spectrometers come with a 36-month warranty. The models and configurations shown are not the only options – if you need a different device or calibration kit, ask us, and we’ll select a spectrometer to suit your needs.

Elvatech XRF spectrometers – RMC Polska dealer

Why choose us?

RMC Polska is an Elvatech dealer – a manufacturer of handheld and benchtop X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometers. We sell the equipment that we ourselves use on a daily basis in our metal purchasing operations and in our laboratory. This enables us to offer advice from a user’s perspective, rather than simply that of a seller: we know which settings and calibrations work best on site and which are best suited to the laboratory.

An XRF spectrometer determines the elemental composition of a metal, alloy, ore or powder in a matter of seconds – without damaging the sample and without the use of chemical reagents. It is a tool that pays for itself quickly: it eliminates incorrect scrap classification, customer complaints and disputes over the quality of deliveries.

36 months

the standard warranty for Elvatech spectrometers – three years’ warranty cover for each instrument.

Calibrations

Ready-made calibrations for metals, scrap, precious metals, geology, RoHS and many others – as well as calibrations prepared to meet specific customer requirements.

Implementation

Operator training, commissioning of the equipment and fine-tuning of the settings to suit your material – either remotely or on-site.

Available calibrations

Applications

The ProSpector 3 spectrometer supports a wide range of application-specific calibrations. Depending on the instrument version (Basic, Advanced or Max) and configuration, several calibrations can be installed simultaneously and you can switch between them within the software.

Calibrations on special request

One of the greatest advantages of ProSpector 3 is the ability to prepare non-standard empirical calibration to suit your material. We produce it using certified reference materials supplied by the customer or in collaboration with the Elvatech application laboratory.

We carry out bespoke calibrations for, amongst others:

  • materials used in the manufacture of batteries and accumulators,
  • refractory materials,
  • rare-earth elements,
  • geological cores,
  • glass and pigments,
  • slag and metallurgical products,
  • powders for 3D printing (additive manufacturing),
  • specialised industrial alloys.

What is a spectrometer used for?

Application

The appearance of a metal rarely allows its composition to be determined with certainty. A spectrometer takes the guesswork out of it – it shows the elemental composition and enables the material to be correctly classified as soon as it is received.

The spectrometer allows you to

  • identify the type of steel and alloy,
  • determine the content of precious metals and alloying elements,
  • correctly value the material being purchased,
  • sort scrap metal by composition,
  • monitor the quality of deliveries.

Cooperation

We’ll start by discussing your material: what you receive, what you dispatch, and where you’re currently losing out due to misclassification. Based on this, we’ll select the model, calibrations and equipment – without you having to pay for features you don’t need.

Following delivery, we commission the equipment, train the operators and set up the measurement parameters so that every shift and every department carries out measurements in the same way.

  • 36-month warranty,
  • standard calibrations and those prepared at the customer’s request,
  • training for operators and implementation using your own material,
  • support with results – we have our own analytical laboratory.
