What does the buying process look like?

4 simple steps

1.

Please complete the form

You can call us, send us a message or use the purchase enquiry form

2.

Get a quote

Based on the information provided, we will prepare a preliminary quote

3.

Delivery

Please deliver the material to our branch in person or send it by courier.

4.

Weighing and payment

Once the raw material has been delivered, we weigh it and check it.

How can you tell the cables apart?

You do not need to strip the insulation from the cables before delivery — we value both bare cables (without insulation) and insulated cables, taking into account their actual metal content. Thicker copper conductors in PVC insulation are the most common type of cable brought to our collection point.

The type of core (copper vs aluminium) and the wire gauge affect the price per kilogram.

Cable collection – types and prices

Thanks to our partnerships with Poland’s largest cable processors, we purchase cables in any quantity and of any type. Our specialists have been assessing the copper and aluminium content in cables for many years, which is why our valuations are based on the actual metal yield rather than on weight alone.

What sort of cables do we buy?

  • Cables with plugs – from electronic equipment and industrial installations, often with steel casings, plugs and sockets. Free from loose debris and scrap metal.
  • Cables with a support cord – telecommunications and coaxial cables suspended from poles by a steel support cable, including those filled with gel. Cleared of non-metallic contaminants and scrap metal.
  • Armoured and underground cables – aluminium or copper cables reinforced with steel tape, laid directly in the ground for use in the power and telecommunications sectors.
  • Lead cables – mainly telecommunications cables, with a lead sheath and conductors insulated with paper or polyethylene.
  • Aluminium cables – mainly power cables, both thick and thin; some cables contain both aluminium and copper conductors.
  • Cables with a high copper content – energy and telecoms: dry, free from gel, tar and steel.
  • Mixed cables (installation cables) – from demolition and renovation work, free from metallic and non-metallic contaminants.
  • Gel-filled, dry and station cables – priced according to the type of wire and the degree of contamination.
  • Hazardous cables – code 17 04 10* – copper or aluminium parts containing tar, oils or greases.

Purchase of insulated cables – price

We determine the price of insulated cables based on the amount of copper or aluminium they contain and the complexity of their processing. Upon receipt, our team assesses the non-ferrous metal content and values the batch accordingly.

The purchase price of copper cables is based on a formula linked to the copper price quoted on the LME. The LME price serves as a benchmark, not the purchase price: the final rate depends on the copper yield and the type of insulation. The price of aluminium cables depends on a greater number of factors, which is why we determine it on a case-by-case basis upon delivery. For full-lorry loads, we prepare an individual quotation based on the London Metal Exchange and the Cu/Al content in the cable.

What happens to the cables after they’ve been collected?

Copper and aluminium cables are sent to our partner, who uses specialised production lines to recover pure copper and aluminium from them – see also purchase of copper and aluminium granules. We discuss the process itself in more detail in the article Everything you need to know about cable recycling.

Fibre-optic cables – collection and disposal

Fibre-optic cables do not contain any metals – they are made of glass fibres and plastics. We do not buy them back, but we do accept them for disposal for a fee and send them to specialist recycling facilities.
