Purchase of copper and aluminium granules
We specialise in the professional purchase of copper and aluminium granules. The copper granules are derived from the recycling of copper cables, whilst the aluminium granules come from the recycling of aluminium cables. Our suppliers are mainly companies specialising in the collection and processing of cables. We purchase any quantity of granules.
We set the price based on the current LME prices for copper and aluminium, and the actual metal content in the granules supplied, which we analyse in our laboratory.
Purchase of copper and aluminium granules – purity testing and price
How do we test the granules?
We determine the purity of the granules using a gravimetric-spectroscopic method, which allows us to precisely determine the amount of copper or aluminium in the material. For the analysis and melting of samples, we use an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer, an induction furnace and a moisture analyser.
What determines the price of copper granules?
When valuing copper granules, we pay particular attention to:
- moisture content of the material,
- the copper content of the granules supplied,
- the content of non-metallic contaminants, e.g. plastics,
- the content of undesirable metals, such as chromium and aluminium.
The purer and drier the granules, the higher the price. We price aluminium granules in the same way – based on the purity of the aluminium and the level of impurities.
